EARTH FAULTS

-— ." ♦. ■'■■'.■ A; series of remarkable earth faults or cracks running along the summit of the Livingstone Range,;hear the new Fiordland Road, were shown in a number 'of photographs by Dr.' G. Moir, in the course of a lantern lecture to the Alpine Club last night. In one place there were five of these faults like giant ditches running along a flat part of the summit of the range. The ditches were filled with alpine flowers when the rest of the summit was bare. Dr. Moir expressed the view that these ditches may have been formed during the course of some great earthquake.
