SINGLE FAVOURITE WINS

With a substantial rise in investments the Hawke's • Bay Hunt Club's Annual Meeting at' Hastings today was a complete success. The weather was fine.;varid there- was an excellent attendance. The course, though not fast, was in splendid order. The day's turnover was £5621, an improvement of £2100 10s on- the £3520 10s put through last year.. ". .. '- 4:.^[^ CURIE'S EASY WIN. ';..-. ■'• Curie,' who is now owned by his former trainer W. McKinnon, opened his jumping account with a very easy win,dn' the Otahe Hack and Hunters' Hurdles. .Beau Star; jumped to the fronts at the initial obstacle to lead from Curie and Royal Bengal. Down the back Curie joined the leader, with Emotion in third place, but the lastnamed soon retired. Curie led into the straight from Lord Hereford and, Beau Star, and this was; the order in '.which--they, finished, 'with Curie on ■the' bit. after a fine display.
