KEEN BUYERS AT SALE
The growing in old New Zealand books was clearly illustrated at a sale held by J. H. Bethune and .Co. yesterday afternoon. There was a large muster of buyers and bidding was very spirited. There were also many bids by post, some coming from Australia. -
One of the most interesting lots sold was a Maori grammar by Lee and Kendall, published by the Missionary Society in London in 1820; This grammar was the first published, although an earlier incomplete work was published by Kendall, and is now exceedingly rare. Bidding commenced at £5, arid the book was sold at £8 .5s to Mr. J. M. A. Ilott. ;.. . ...-■ ...
