White potatoes are particularly weak, and their value has slipped further. Even Dakotas do not enjoy a big trade, but there are enough o.rders coming in to keep the market steadier than that for whites. There is practically no demand for. whites, and sellers in. Canterbury are embarrassed by offers Erom Timaru at 80s, f.o.b.
The feeling is growing that the crop in' Canterbury is plentiiul. Reports from South Canterbury and North Otago indicate that, supplies there are substantially plentiful. Tne nominal prices for whites is £2 15s; on trucks, but sales are exceedingly difficult to make. "
Arrival of Japanese and Californian onions has embarrassed th« onion market, which is very weak. There is a' limited demand for extra good. The price is nominally £3, on1 trucks, but practically no business is passing.
