Heavy rain prevented play in the cricket match Gentlemen v. Players at Lord's, after which, according to the "Daily Mail," eight or ten of the players for Australia will be chosen.
R. W. V. Robins (Middlesex), who was previously understood to be unavailable, has now expressed his willingness to go if he is invited. In addition to G. O. Allen (Middlesex), whom the "Daily Telegraph"' regards as a certainty for the captaincy, R. E. S. Wyatt (Warwickshire), W. R. Hammond (Gloucestershire), M. Leyland (Yorkshire), H. Verity (Yorkshire), G. Duckworth (Lancashire), and H.Gimblett (Somersetshire) are likely to appear on the first list.
