VARYING CONTRACTS

PROVISION TO BE MADE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, This Day.

The Government proposes to make provision-for variation of existing contracts where the cost of carrying out the work is increased as a result of the restoration of wages raies to the 1931 level, according to a statement by the Minister of Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) in a letter to' the Auckland Drivers' Union.

It was slated in Auckland this morning that contractors had been concerned over the prospect of having to meet additional costs through the wages increase and not being able to recoup themselves.
