"SHOW BOAT."

Regent Theatre on Friday.

There are many pleasing features' in "Show Boat," which starts on Friday at the' Regent. Its principal players, Irene Dunne and Allan Jones, Paul Robeson, Helen Morgan, Helen "Westley, and Charles Winninger, would be enough to recommend it to anyone who knew that these were the stars of the original Ziegfield stage show, but when it is realised that "Show Boat" also introduces old and new music and songs by Kern and Kammerstein as well as the dance sequences arranged by Le Roy Prinz,, it becomes one of the most distinguished productions of its kind in the history of the screen. InciHentaly, it is exactly ten years since "Show Boat" was given its stage premiere. Charles Winninger and all the rest of the originals, have been associated with the play ever since,' and they are able in the latest version to show filmgoers the famous characters in their most accurate presentation.

At a meeting of the council of the Royal Aeronautical Society recently, Mr. H. E. Wimperis, Director of Research, Air Ministry, was elected president for the ;year 1936-37. Mr. F. Handley Page was elected vice-presi-dent and Major T. M. Barlow was re-elected vice-president.
