OIL REFINERY FOR ITALY
The Reinmetall-Borsig Works of Dusseldorf have received a contract from the Italian firm of Trieste, to construct a pettvleum refinery. It will be capable of dealing with 300,000 tons of raw oil yearly and will cost £300,000. Great importance is attached to the deal in German industrial circles, as the construction of oil refineries have previously been practically an Anglo-,American monopoly. This will be the first refinery built abroad by a German firm, apart from a small one in Antwerp. The contract was arranged through the South German Sugar Works of Mannheim, .vhose board of directors includes two prominent Italian industrialists. A number of Germanr have been appointed to the board of directors of the Trieste refinery. Among them is Dr. Frank, a format director of the Deutsche Bank, who is uf nonAryan extraction. This appointment is regarded in Germany as of great significance. German-Jewish business men are at the moment particularly interested in encouraging trade and gooi relations with Italy, as it is thouani that Abyssinia may offer openings'for Jewish settlers when hostilities hay ceased.
