MOTIVE A MYSTERY

SYDNEY, June 30.

After an inquiry into the death of Alexander Collins, lottery official, the Coroner returned a verdict that death was due to a bullet wound in the head self-inflicted. The Coroner added that he was utterly unable, from the evidence, to form any opinion in regard to the motive for Collins's suicide. His affairs were in thorough order.

A Sydney cable on May 27 stated that remarkable circumstances were associated with the mysterious disappearance of Alexander Collins, aged 52, assistant director of the State Lottery Office. AH trace of him was lost the previous Saturday, the day after he was married, and a note subsequently found at the Lottery Office contained liis will. It was understood, however, l.hat it gave no clue to his future intentions. Examination of his books at the Lottery Office revealed that everything was in order.
