N.Z. CUP STAKE

At a meeting of the programme committee of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting ClUb, the stakes of races for the November meeting were considered, and in all probability these will show an increase on last year's figures. No official statement has been made, but ; it is understood the principal events will each carry additional prizemoney, and the New Zealand Cup will again be confined to horses assessed at 4min 26sec or better.

In 1929 and 1930, the Cup, which was run in divisions, was worth £4100, but in 1931 it was reduced to £3100, and in 1932 and the following years, when it was a straight-out contest, the prize was £1600, including a gold cup valued at £100. Possibly this year's prize will be £1750, or even £2000, while the Louisson and Ollivier Handicaps will probably each carry a prize of £1000. ■' '
