TO MARK THE QUEEN MARY'S FIRST VOYAGE.— The Trocadero Restaurant, London, was transformed into a wonderful representation of the Queen Mary on May 27 for a gala dinner in honour ofthe vessel's maiden voyage across the Atlantic. Sir Edgar Britten, the commander, presided at the captain s table.

fFRMANY AND THE Alß.— The trial of the third aircraft carrier Ostmark took place on May 23 at Travemunde, Germany. The ship 7as launched in April and is now in commission. The Dornicr-Wal flying-boat Aeolus is being lifted onboard _by a specially-constructed electric crane, one of the special trials which were carried out before the vessel was commissioned.
