ANOTHER TOUR
TEAM FROM ENGLAND
ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
According to advice received by "The Post" by air mail from London, arrangements are being made by the Football Association to send an amateur team to tour New Zealand next 'year. Tentative dates have been fixed, and it is suggested that the English team should stay in New Zealand for seven weeks. The date of their leaving England is set down for April 23, 1937, and their return as August 21, 1937. Some fifty prominent amateurs have been approached to ascertain whether they could make the trip if selected. Among those invited is Harold Lodge, the Stockton amateur international, who kept goal for England against Ireland and Scotland last season.
"The position is that we are seeking a visit by a team, as suggested," said Mr. Alf. Williams, secretary of the New Zealand Football Council, when questioned by a "Post" representative as to the actual position regarding a visit from England. "We have been in communication with Brigadier-General W. R. N. Maddocks, the New Zealand representative on the Football Association, London, and evidently matters are moving."
