OFF THE TRACK
BIVOUAC IN THE BUSH
(Spttlal to the "Evening Post.")
PALMERSTOJ* N„ This Day. So long as the path on the following day leads out to safety, a night in the bush is no more than a little inconvenient and perhaps extra cold. When a party of young men and ■women set out for the top of the Pahiatua traqk on Sunday on a shooting expedition, the male members were not anticipating a night out of their own comfortable beds at home, but when they lost their bearings there was nothing for it but to make the cosiest bivouac they could when darkness descended and hope for the best in the morning.
Meanwhile, the women of the party, who had been left at the cars, became anxious at the failure of the menfolk to return and reported them missing, with the result that two search parties were organised for, yesterday. Their services were not required, however, as the missing men found their own-way out by dinner time.
The young men wfere Messrs. Hosking, Davis, and James.
