HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER
FINE AND CANCELLATION

GISBORNE, This Day. A hit-and-run driver who ran into a girl cydlist, appeared before Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., this morning, "and was fined a total of £15 and had his licenco cancelled for twelve months. llio accused was a Maori, Osborne Hura, who pleaded guilty. •
Detective McWhirter stated that the sptjed of the accused's car was] described as terrific. A. friend who had been in town with him on the day of the accident, said that the accused wjas'so in* toxicated that he prevented him from using his car until later in . the day. Counsel said that the' accused's recollection of the incident was very vague, although he remembered hitting something.
