A NEW PHASE
TIRED OF DEPRESSION NO FEAR OF EXPERIMENTS ■(Received June 11, 10.45 a.m.) 1 LONDON, June 10. The "Manchester Guardian's" Paris correspondent considers it is clearer every day that France is entering a new phase. Tired of three years of depression, she considers that conservatism and economic caution are played out, and is prepared to engage in experiments regardless of danger. The psychological atmosphere _ has enormously improved and hope is replacing widespread pessimism, even among employers. Textile producers in North France formed a deputation to the Premier and urged, that increased costs will necessitate export subsidies to enable the industry to compete with colonial and foreign markets. Herr Hitler regards the strikes as a fulfilment of his prophecy that Bolshevism would spread to France, and his aversion to the Soviet is extending to France and even Western democracy as a whole, increasing his reluctance to reply to the British questionnaire.
