BRAILLE CLUB PARTY

A GREAT SUCCESS

The Wellington Braille Club held a most successful bridge party last evening at the.Elm Rooms. The room was filled with a throng of enthusiastic players, over sixty tables having been engaged. This was partly due, of course, to the attractions of the game, but also a tribute to the excellent work done |jy the club in the patient transcribing of books and a monthly magazine for the pleasure of a large number of blind people. .There is also a correspondence, branch, and the manual work of shell-lacing the books is carried out by members of the club. Last nig"ht the large room was bright with Iceland poppies, tawny chrysanthemums, and palms, all toning in well with the "decor" of the rooms. An excellent supper was served and duly appreciated by the players. Much credit was given to Miss Rui Van Staveren for the amount of good organisation and hard work which she had done in connection with the party, aiding largely in its success. Members of the committee present included Mrs. S. Israel (president), Mrs. M. Gordon and Miss Hetherington (vice-presidents), Mrs. J. R. Boys (hon. secretary), Mrs. W. W.
