THE "HIT-AND-RUN" DRIVER
In view of the present -activity, iii the campaign for safety on the road, special interest attaches to a film which will be included in the- Majestic Theatre programme for the week lieginning tomorrow. Entitled "The Hit* and-Run Driver," the picture is . a valuable object' lesson, and has the recommendation of the Automobile Association. ' • ; The picture was screened privately a few days ago, and among those who saw it was the Hon. R. Semple, Mini?* ter of Transport. In a letter to Mr. P. W. Maddock, manager of Metro Goldwyn-Mayer, Mr. Semple urges the public to note the lessons taught by the picture. He remarks that, by the law of averages, about one in every four people is destined to> be killed or injured on the highway. "In all' the factors Of road accidents the most despio ; able and heartless is the 'hit-and-ruh' driver, and I heartily commend your effort in bringing this class of offerict so forcibly before the public."
