COCKAYNE GOLD MEDAL

TWO AWARDS MADE The Cockayne gold medal has been awarded to Mr. J. G. C. MacKenzie, of Wellington, who, after being at Kew Gardens, is now back in New Zealand as director of parks and reserves, Hastings, and to Mr. M. J. O. Sullivan, B.Sc., agricultural and botany teacher at Mount Albert Grammar School, Auckland. The award is in memory of the late Dr. L. Cockayne and is presented annually to the outstanding student who wins the New Zealand diploma of Agriculture. This is the first year that the award has been made, and two students were selected for the honour, as each had done outstanding work..
