Mrs. James Patterson, Delhi, is the guest of Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, Salamanca Road. Mrs. G. W. Lynch has left Hamilton to take up her residence in Wellington with her son, Dr. E. G. Lynch. Mrs. Arthur Holmes and Miss Yvonne Holmes, who are the guests of Mrs. A. L. Cropp, Gloucester Street, Christchurch, will leave this evening on their return to' their home in Wellington. Miss Russell-Fergusson will arrive in Wellington tomorrow from the south. Mrs. Kenneth Murchison, Glenthorne, Lake Coleridge, is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Lucas, Lower Hutt. Madame Ross-Brodie, who went to Australia to continue her vocal studies under the eminent conductor and teacher, Maestro Ezio Kost, of Rome, returned" to Wellington by the Wanganella . yesterday en route to her home at Rangitata Island, South Canterbury. Madame Ross-Brodie will be returning to Melbourne nox*t 'month to fulfil engagements and continue her studies. During her last stay in the Victorian capital Madame was soloist for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fritz Hart, in the Town Hall there,-and also sang over the air from 3LO. Miss Marjorie Murie, Wellington, is spending a few weeks with her sister, Mrs. John Allan, Mount Eden, Auckland. Mrs. C. W. McMillan, who has been on an extended visit to her mother, Mrs F M. Paulsen, "Montpellier, Elizabeth Bay Road, Sydney, returned by the Wanganella yesterday, accompanied by her daughter, Judith Ann. Mrs. McMillan leaves tomorrow for Masterton, where sjie will in future reside. - Mrs. L. H. Whyte entertained a number of friends at afternoon tea at the DIC. on Wednesday to farewell Mr. Herbert Whyte, who is leaving for England by the Remuera on June iu. Among those present were Mesdames Harry Whyte, Fitzgibbon, G. Bell, L. Smith, McKeon, C. Lamberg, Conroy. Mrs. Lola Maries will be the speaker at the meeting of the New Zealand Women Writers' and Artists' Society to be held next week. Mrs. Maries, who is a traveller of wide experience, will give a humorous talk on episodes on a South Canterbury sheep station. Mrs. Murdoch (Burma), Mrs. McGrath (Melbourne), Mrs. Jameson (Masterton), Mrs. E. A. Adams (Christchurch), and Mrs. J. Owen (Dunedin) are guests at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. W. Berry and Mrs. Maxwell (Wairoa), Miss R. Fraser (Auckland), Mrs. Hand (Wellington), Mrs. E. Harding, Mrs. Grinlinton, and Miss Grinlinton (Woodville) are staying at the Empire Hotel. Mrs, W. M. Acton-Adams and Miss A O Hay, Christchurch, are staying at the Hotel St. George.
