According to a ruling of the International Amateur Athletic Federation, received at the meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association last night, lap times may be communicated to competitors at the discretion of the referee. This information was supplied as a result of an inquiry by the New Zealand Council as to whether the announcing of lap times was conferring an advantage on individual competitors.
