MATRON'S CARDIGAN

This neat fitting cardigan designed to fit a 41-inch bust measurement is knitted in a fancy rib in pip and stocking stitch and is finished with bands in garter stitch. The cardigan measures 24 inches in length, the sleeves 19 inches, and the shoulders 14 inches. Tension: Seven sts. to lin. The cardigan may be altered in size in any part merely by adding or subtracting the required number of stitches, according to the tension. Materials required: Nine ounces 3-ply super wool in dark brown, 1 pair each No. 10 and No. 12 needles, five buttons. DIRECTIONS. Back: With No. 12 needles, cast on 148 stitches, work into the back of first row of stitches to make firm edge. Knit lin in garter stitch and in the next row knit each 36th and 37th stitches together. At end of row there will be 144 sts.'
