BRIGADE
The Tire Brigade received a call at 11.21 a.m. today to subdue an outbreak .at 85 Mem Street. The house is a two-storeyed wooden building of nine rooms, divided into two residential flats.
:y When the Fire Brigade reached the premises, the fire, which had started on the ground floor, had gained a good ' hold. The occupants, who were on -. the top floor having morning tea when r , the outbreak occurred, had considerv.- able trouble in getting out. The fire . was. soon, under control, however. : . Damage by fire to the main stairway ... . and the living-room on the ground ■ floor resulted, and other rooms were more or less affected. by heat and 1 smoke.- : - - The building is owned by Mr. T. A, •• Wells. Mrs. A. J. Holding occupies ---. the', ground-floor, and Mrs. M. E. Evans .. , the- top, - .- ■ . ■
