BRITISH TRADE
MR. NASH GOING HOME
TO ARRANGE AGREE-
MENTS
MR. SAVAGE TO FOLLOW
MINISTER. OF MARKETING
Important discussions will shortly take place between representatives of the New Zealand Government and the British Government in relation to trade agreements between the two countries.
The Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) will leave for England as soon as the.major financial proposals at.present before Parliament, and other financial proposals still to be produced, have been dealt with. Mr. Nash's object will be to discuss with the Home authorities the marketing of New Zealand produce in Great Britain.
It is understood that Cabinet has already given consideration to the proposal that Mr. Nash should proceed to England at the earliest opportunity and that the opinion has been expressed that no better exponent of New Zealand's requirements could be found that Mr. Nash.
No limit will be placed upon the time that Mr. Nash will spend in England, but a major consideration in connection with his'visit is that the "financial decks" should be cleared in New Zealand before he leaves" for' Home. • ■
A definite announcement that: the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage would visit England in connection with the■ Coronation celebrations and also in connection with the proposed Imperial Conference' was obtained in official circles today. Mr. Savage will leave New Zealand in March or April, and he. will.thus be in a position to" bind' New Zealand to any arrangement arrived at in the meantime between the Imperial authorities and Mr. Nash.
It was learned today, that Mr. Nash would visit England not only as Minister of Finance but as Min- | ister of Marketing-as well ;■ thus the speculation regarding the appointment of a Minister of Marketing is set at rest., Mr.. Nash ■■ will fill • the position. ••.■'"■• It is unlikely that any other Min-ister-will accompany. Mr. Nash.
