"THE OLD LADIES"
A variation was made in the programme of the fortnightly readings of the Wellington East Old Girls' Dramatic Society when a meeting was held at the residence of Miss A. Marsden vice-president of the society, instead of being held in the society's clubroom in A. S. Paterson's building. There was an excellent attendance of members who were entertained by the reading of "The Old Ladies," a play by Rodney Ackland, adapted from the novel by Hugh Walpole. The parts of May Beringer and Agatha Payne were particularly well portrayed by Miss Molly Chisholm and Miss Ena Bell respectively, while the character of Lucy Amorest was well expressed by Miss Moljy Denton.
The next meeting will take the form of an "open evening."
Of every five persons killed in road accidents in England, one is a child under fifteen years of age.
