The Sub-collec-tor of Customs at Newcastle reports that' exports of coal to New, Zealand for the ;flrst: Quarter of 1936 were 32,112 "tons; an increase of 5987 ■ tons, The.largest exports of coal from Newcastle were for the various States of the Commonwealth, with New Zealand next./' Other five-figure tonnages were, for' Great Britain. 27,835 tons, and Japan, 11,689: tons.
