DANGEROUS DRIVING
A motor-car that .would not stop outside the Queen's Wharf gates on December . 7 caused the prosecution in the Magistrate's Court before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning of Randolph Smyth, on a charge of drivingin a manner that might have been dangerous to the public. Mr. A. ft. Cooper prosecuted.
Evidence was given that the defendant's car went against the "stop" signal of the traffic officer on duty, swerved towards the wharf gates and then back again, and struck a motorcyclist who had stopped and was waiting for the signal. , The motorcyclist had one ankle injured and the other bruised.
The defendant wrote to the Court stating that his foot had, slipped off the pedal and that he could not stop the car. ■
A fine of 20s and costs was imposed, and the conviction is to be endorsed on the defendant's licence, which is to be suspended until May 31, and no new licence is to be issued until September 30. '
