(Received May 6, 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, May 5. This year, for the first time, Australian butter will be sold in the British, markets throughout the entire year instead of for six months, as hitherto. Owing to the vision of the Dairy Board shipments from Australia will be so controlled as to make continuous supnly possible. Butter experts predict increasing popularity and consumption for Australian dairy products.
Experts who made an examination of the recent shipment of Japanese butter disclose that it has a flavour like the Australian and New Zealand products, and consider that it will not afford a serious menace for many years.
The "Sun-Herald" news agency learns that letters are being exchanged immediately terminating the AngloArgentine trade treaty. The British are', entitled to give six months' notice of intention to denounce the treaty as from May 7, but instead are concluding an arrangement whereby the treaty will be terminable on November 7 without the six months' notice being given. The termination of the treaty vitally concerns the Dominions, especially Australia, because the extent of Argentina's future beef exports to Britain will be dependent on the new Anglo-Australian meat agreement which replaced the expired Ottawa agreement.
