ASCENT OF TASMAN.
"The finest slides on Taxman ev^r produced" and "a revelation of the beauty of the New Zealand Alps" are but two of the. many eulogistic comments made concerning the illustrated lecture on the ascent of Tasman to be delivered by Mr. Alan C. Browne, F.E.G.S.. A.R.C.A.. in the Masonic Hall. The Terrace, Wellington, tonight at 8 o'clock. The chairman will be the. Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) and the lecture will be under the pat- j t'onage of the Wellington Philosophical ] Society. English-speaking Union, New! Zealand Alpine Club, 'New Zealand Antarctic Society, • and the V.M.C.A. More than 100 lantern slides, hand-•-Rinted by the lecturer from his own photographic studies, will fully illustrate the magnificent- scenery from the beaches of the West Coast, all the way up the Fox Glacier to the very summit of Tasman, which Mr. Browne climbed on December 27 last in the company of Mr. H. K. Douglas, Wellington (New Zealand Alpine Club) and Chief Guide Alack. This is the lecture which Mr. Browne has been preparing since his return to New Zealand in July of last year, and which he hopes to give in other countries to make this beautiful part of the Dominion more widely known.
