LOST GUIDES

Even Tibetan guides get lost in Tibet occasionally, according to testimony brought back by Brook Dolan, American naturalist, who has recently returned from a zoological tour to "the roof of the world," says a message to the "Christian Science Monitor" from Shanghai. Mr. Dolan tells of wandering in cold uplands, where the high altitude is in itself a major handicap to those not accustomed to such conditions, through country characterised by dry wastes, rivers, bogs, and other difficulties of travel. Many times, he says, both he and the guides were lost, and got back to known territory only after great hardships.
