Betting at the Maryborough Meeting this week will be under the singlepool system. Miss D. E. Bray, secretary of the Wellington Racing Club, will attend the opening day of the Egmont Meeting tomorrow, and will probably. also be at Marlborough on Saturday. The Wellington Racing Club is applying for three days' racing at its Spring Meeting, the extra day on the Thursday prior to Labour Day. The reconstructed main totalisator house at Trenthamis to be finished in time for the Winter Meeting, and it is hoped to have the Julius machine installed for. the Spring Meeting. ii. J. Ellis has been missing from the Riccarton tracks for a few days. The popular lightweight is suffering lrom a slight strain, and, though, the trouble is not serious, he will not be riding at Amberley on Saturday. Lyric, the Iliad two-year-old, who was successful at Perth on Monday, is a lull-sister to Boomerang and a halfsister to Might. She was acquired at the yearling sales January twelve months ago by Mr. E. Meares, of Perth, for 230 guineas. On account of the Dunedin Jockey Club's change of dates the Ashbiirton County Racing Club will hold its Winter Meeting on June 6 instead of on June 27. .
Cappy. who claims two engagements at the Egmont Meeting tomorrow, has had only three starts to date, and he has been first and third at the last two. He is a five-year-old gelding by Raceful from.the Archfestown—Sister mare Archangel, and he is held on lease by Mrs. F. M. Reilly, of Frankton, who also races King Rey, .another son of Raceful.
