LONDON WOOL SALES

MARKET OPENS FIRM

SELLERS' HIGH LIMITS

(By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Received May 6, noon.) LONDON, May 5.

The London May series of the wool sales has opened firm, but with no quotable change. The third series of wool sales opened with an offering of 10,097 bales, including 4888 from New Zealand, and 7974 bales were sold. The selection was good and representative. Competition was rather active, chiefly from the Home trade. Business, however, was checked by the sellers high limits, which resulted in large withdrawals.

New Zealand greasy crossbred, 'Highfield," sold at 12d and 9 7-18 d a Ib.
