KENNEL CLUB'S YEAR

, The activities ,of a successful year are recorded in the annual report, of the Wellington Kennel Club, which has a membership of 64 with 25, life members. The annual show, held last October, was '.successful in every respect, and it'attracted a number of visitors from outside Wellington. The club's efforts in the past two years had made it possible to secure an overseas judge this year. During the past year three parades had been held, and all of them were considered satisfac-' tory. Thanks were expressed to the many people who had assisted the club. ."As we are.' to commemorate our jubilee this year, it is only fitting that mention should be made in this fortyninth annual report of those who founded the club in Wellington," said the report. "During the first few years the club held its shows under the title of the Wellington and Intercolonial Dpg Society, and it was not until 1890 that the club assumed the title of the Wellington Kennel Club. The president was Mr. T. Kennedy Mac Donald, the secretary Mr. D. Brand, the treasurer Mr. Robt. Triggs, and the committee comprised Messrs. W. R. Morris and Chas. Stevens, who are both resident in Wellington today. At this show we find Mr. Alex. P. | Smith, Wellington (who is still a frequent exhibitor now) exhibiting an Irish terrier; Mr. F. Rogen was also an exhibitor of fox terriers. Messrs. A. B. Clater, John Philpot. Alex. Bullingal, and H. N. Watson all exhibited smooth fox terriers. We hope to see a full muster of these early fanciers at our jubilee show in October." The balance-sheet showed a fewpounds profit, and the executive felt that after £45 had been paid for an overseas judge the progress of, the I club had been advanced.
