REFRESHER STILL WELL
NEW PLYMOUTH TRIALS
(Special from "Hurry On.") NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. Though still a little on the heavy side after the recent rain,..the New Plymouth tracks were in good order for training operations yesterday morning, when most of the horses with engagements at Hawera were worked. The galloping took place on the course proper,' with the flags . about. 15 feet out. • ....:. Ngatirahiri jumped off two lengths in front of Calshot at the five furlongs and was still half a length to the good at the finish in lmin. 5 3-5 sec. He was going comfortably at the end, and appears improved by his race at Feilding. Calshot continues to build up nicely. Script occupied lmin 7sec for the same distance. He ran the first three furlongs in 38sec, but did not finish well. Glenvane strode over a couple of circuits at an easy three-quarter pace. He gave a good exhibition over sixschooling hurdles on Monday morning. An interesting trial was staged by Refresher, Tahurangi, and Davistock over seven furlongs. Refresher and Tahurangi soon clapped on the pace, and, after going two furlongs, were well clear of Davistock. They ran the first half-mile in 52sec, the five in lmin 4 3-ssec, and the full distance-in lmin 32 2-ssec. There was nothing between Refresher and Tahurangi at the finish, with Davistock four lengths away. ■ . ■ • : ■ Grateful pulled hard over a couple* of rounds of pace work on the inside. He galldped a mile on Monday, finishing full of running.
