FINES AT AUCKLAND

As the result of police raids on , Chinese pakapoo premises Wong Lee, I who pleaded not guilty, was convicted of using premises in Grey's Avenue as a common gaming-house. The Magistrate, Mr. Hunt, said that as it was his first appearance he would tine the accused only £12 10s. Wong Yen, aged 72, pleaded guilty to a similar charge in respect of in Pitt Street, and was fined £25, in default three months' imprisonment, the accused having been previously fined. '■■ Wong Lock pleaded guilty to a charge respecting Hobson Street premises. As a first offender he was fined £12 10s. A charge against Mcc Nam Lowe respecting premises in Grey's Avenue was dismissed. Fourteen men found on the premises were fined £1 each, and three similar charges we're, dismissed.

Advice has been received-that Dr. Russell Fraser, son of Mr. Malcolm Eraser, of this city, has gained his M.R.C.P. (London).
