SUNDAY DISTURBANCE

CARDINAL IN LONDONDERRY

LONDONDERRY, April 26.

Intense police activity followed the distribution throughout the city of leaflets bearing the words: "Stop this rebel display or there will be bloodshed."

The occasion was a visit by Cardinal Macßory, Archbishop of Armagh, who presided at Pontifical High Mass at r new Roman Catholic Cathedral. Sunday crowds, booing, endeavoured to rush Cardinal Macßory's motor-car, but were evaded by the driver ignoring the one-way traffic rule, enabling him to reach Bishop O'Kane's ' palace, where another crowd gave Cardinal Macßory a tumultuous welcome. Numerous scuffles occurred.
