KILBIRNIE

A large muster of returned soldiers under Captain C. J. H. Davidson, school children, and parents attended. the service at the Kilbirnie School. The address was given by Mr. H. R. Biss. .

i The chairman of the school committee, Mr. F. H. Porter, presided. Prayers were said by. the Rev. D. J. Davies, B.Sc, vicar of Kilbirnie, and a Scripture reading was given by Mr. C. T. Cox. The "Last Post" was sounded by Bandsman. H.. Petterson, followed after one minute's silence, by the "Reveille," sounded by Trumpeter-Major F. C. Chegwin. The ' music "for the hymns "O God, . Our Help ■■ in Ages !Past"and "Thy Kingdom Come, O God," and the National Anthem, was played by the band of the Salvation Army, Wellington South. The children, under the headmaster,. Mr. W. H. Burgess, sang the "Anzac Hymn." They also placed wreaths round the roll of honour board containing-the names of ex-pupils of the school who fell in' the Great War.
