VISIT TO EUROPE

SIR AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN

GERMAN SUSPICIONS

LONDON, April 24.

A message from Berlin states that official circles are1 suspicious of Sif Austen Chamberlain's visit to Central Europe, suggesting that it is not private but aimed at ascertaining whether German propaganda endangers Austria and Czechoslovakia.

The German Press condemns Austrian re-armament, declaring it a French device to make Austrians fight against their own flesh and blood, Germany.

Though the Foreign Office and Sir Austen Chamberlain emphatically deny that his "extended holiday" in. Central Europe has the slightest political significance, the "News-Chronicle" attributes important motives to it, and asserts that Sir Austen is engaged in a detailed study of Central European security. .
