"WILL LOSE NO/TIME"
MR. SAVAGE'S STATEMENT
"What was the reason for the Government's insistence on Parliament passing the Reserve Bank Bill this week?" was a question put to tha Prime Minister (the Hon. M. A Savage) today by a "Post" representative.
"No public works project could ,g(f on without it," replied the Prime Mil* ister. "We wish to begin work oi> ' the Napier-Gisborne railway construe tion, and this can be done when th« Railway Amendment Bill is through Meanwhile, the Public Works Department is charting its course and win lost no time when the Bill is passed. RESERVE BANK BILL. Reverting to the importance of passing the Reserve Bank Act, Mr. Savage declared that "to drag out discussion on a Bill of that character for,a long time is in nobody's interest. It allow* scaremongers time to lay their plans, and there is no place for scaremongers in New Zealand today. The stock market is an indication that nobody i» running away from New Zealand legislation."
