SYDNEY ROYAL SHOW

MARRED BY RAIN

NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITS

SYDNEY, April 7.

The Royal Show today was seriously marred by drenching rain. However, judging of horses, fruit, poultry, and other district exhibits went on without interruption.

New Zealand-bred Clydesdales, as in former years, figured largely and successfully in the Clydesdale stallion section, gaining first awards in the two-years-old, three-years-old, and under four-years-old classes, also second and third awards in two-years-old and three-years-old classes. The champion prize went to the New South Wales Department of Agriculture, and the reserve champion prize to A. Stokes's Noble Douglas, imported from New Zealand.

The judge in the Clydesdale classes was Mr. W. Carruthers, Lanark, Scotland.

Recently imported New Zealand Ayrshire heifers exhibited by Korff Brothers attracted considerable attention when the 12 to 18 ' months old animals were paraded. They were more forward and heavier in bone than the locally-bred stock, which gained first, second, and third awards, the New Zealanders being fourth.

The Aberdeen Angus cattle were judged by. Mr. H. B. Williams, Gisborne, New Zealand. He was also one of the judges of the fat cattle. He stated that the Aberdeen Angus classes disclosed astounding improvement and it was very difficult to find.fault.'

Winooka, the former champion sprinter, won first prize for thoroughbred stallions.
