HAMARIN'S EARLIER FORM
Hamarin, top weight for the Newmarket Hack Handicap, 5 furlongs, at the Wairarapa Meeting on Saturday, is not generally known to racegoers in these parts. Her only starts to date have been three races in Taranaki, all over 5 furlongs, and after running second to Grateful at New Plymouth on December 28 she went on to beat Gay Talkie and N'otium at Stratford a week later. She had her third outing at the Egmont Meeting in February, when she was win favourite but was beaten into fourth place in the event won by Clessamor. Hamarin is a three-year-old bay filly by Lord Quex from the CatmintSymbolism mare Catalani, hence she is a full-sister to Paleta and Catalogue and a' half-sister to Vandyke and Hunting Cat. She is owned by the Wanganui trainer W. H. Dwyer, who bought her privately from her breeder, Mr. R. M. Chadwick last November. Mr. Chadwick acquired the dam after she had failed to find an owner at the I dispersal of the Flaxmere Stud.
