GERMANY AND JAPAN
EEPOETED ALLIANCE
AGREEMENT DENIED [
(Received April 8, 10.45 ajn.)
LONDON, April 7.
The Berlin correspondent of Tha} Times" says that though revived re« ports of a military alliance beftveenl Germany and Japan are not taken very| seriously in well-informed circles, thai possibility is not" excluded. Excellent relations between the two Powers hava led to an understanding that theyi should at least not hamper each othefl in diplomatic and other undertakings. Questions of mutual support in tima of war may have been discussed, but it is emphasised that neither country, has anything to gain by embroiling it* self automatically in disputes to whicM the policy of the other may lead. The Foreign Ministry denies the c» istence of any such agreement, and thai feeling is that if one exist* it has been! arranged on the German side by thai" Nazi Party rather than by the Foreign! Office. '
