EASTER CANDIDATES

TRENTHAM TRACK NOTES

FULOJOY TO RUN IN OAKS

(By "Rangatira.")

With the Easter meetings only a few days ahead, the work at Trentham this morning was again _full of interest. The. weather was perfect, with bright sunshine and very little wind, and the trial grass track, on which most of the fast work was done, was in excellent order. Sunee (L. Nesbitt), picked up by Good Sun (J. McCauiey) at the halfmile, went seven furlongs, but the pace was not on till- Good Sun joined in, the last half-mile taking 51 l-ssec. E. Rosewarne will definitely ride the pair at Tauherenikau, and also Youssipoi, whose work this morning was a round of solid pacing. Golden Vein (J. Nicolson), who has been improved with a few turns over the fences in private, ran seven furlongs alone in lmin 33sec, the last halfmile in 53sec. She will be ridden by the apprentice D. Lamb at Tauherenikau. . . Windward (J. McCauiey) left the tiring Kia Tina (B. McCauiey) halfway down the straight to complete six furlongs in lmin 18 2-ssec. the last half-mile in 52 3-ssec. Geitel (L. Faulkiner) ran seven furlongs alone in lmin 35sec, the last half-mile in 53sec. Chile (P. Burgess) was all out to hold Cardinal Moon (F. Boxall) at bay by a head over seven furlongs on the plough1 in lmin 32 4-ssec, the last halfmile in 52 2-ssec. This was the only trial on this track. •. Camilla Horn (A. Ridgway) was three parts of a length in front of Gay Val (J. McCauiey) after running half a mile in 51 l-ssec. Sansfoy (D. Bush), who is suffering from a girth-band sore, came down the straight ridden barebacked. • ,

Brown Pearl (S. R.. Farland) was always ahead of Darecourt (S. Wilson) over six furlongs, and finished a good neck in front after covering the distance in lmin 17sec, the last half-mile in 51sec. Brown Pearl, though she had only a lightweight in the saddle this morning, looks-an improved mare.

Vinco (Farland), with a decided advantage in the weights, was too speedy for Boomerang (Wilson) over five furlongs, finishing two lengths in front in lmin 3sec, the last half-mile in 50sec. Boomerang was not forced out when he could not reach his mate.

After Money (Farland) easily beat Arctic King (R. Hawes) over a mile in lmin 44sec, the last' half-mile, easing up, in 53sec.' Arctic King was six lengths behind at the half-way in 51sec, and he was still five lengths to the bad at the post. He is to be galloped again on Thursday with a stronger rider, as his trainer suspects he may be cunning. So far no rider has been obtained for Him or Sansfoy at Riccarton.

Fulojoy (Farland), leading all the way, held on to beat, Prostration (Wilson) by a head, with* Chief Ranger (J. McCauley) some lengths back, after running seven furlongs in the smart time of lmin 29sec, the last half-mile in 51 l-ssec. Fulojoy is now to keep her engagement in the G.N. Oaks, and she was to have left for the north this afternoon in company with Korero, Cricket, and Diamond, F. Thompson going in charge of them. Korero (Farland), who looks better than he has ever done, found Might (J. McCauley) of little use over a mile in lmin 44 3-ssec, the last seven furlongs in lmin 30 4-ssec, and the last half-mile in 52 3-ssec. He was five lengths in front at the half-way, and six or seven lengths ahead at the post.

Cricket (Wilson) beat Sea Wrack (A. Leach) by two lengths over five furlongs in lmin 4sec, the last half-mile in 50 2-ssec. Acceptable (R. Smith) ran half a mile from the seven furlongs to the three furlongs in 50 4-ssec, then went on to complete seven furlongs in lmin 35sec. *

Debham (Farland) ran six furlongs alone in lmin 17 4-ssec, the last halfmile in 51 3-ssec. sDeficit (Wilson) sprinted down the straight. The Trentham .horses for Eiccarton (Might, Prostration, Arctic King, and Sansfoy) leave on Friday night. George's Ellerslie team are to be ridden on the flat by C. Goulsbro', with F. Thompson taking the mount on the steeplechaser Diamond. S. Wilson, besides George's half-dozen, will also be on Alloa at Tauherenikau, and he will go south for the concluding day at Riccarton, where one' of his mounts will be Prostration. J. McCauley's rides at Tauherenikau include Galteemore, The Sandwich Man, and Confiscation.
