FALL FROM BALCONY
SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES
Six accident cases were dealt with by the Wellington Free Ambulance during the weekend, the injured person in • each instance being taken to hospital.
When he fell about 12 feet from the balcony ; of a building in Lower Hutt on Saturday evening, James MacPherson, of 40 Mudie Street, Lower Hutt, suffered severe injuries to his head. His condition today is reported to be serious.
A 13-months-old infant, John Bowker, living at la Hutt Road, ran against a bucket of boiling water late on Saturday afternoon and was scalded on the head and lower parts of the body. Mrs. E. Hose, of 56 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, fell heavily on the footpath near her home about 11.30 p.m. on Saturday and fractured her right leg.
When the chain of his bicycle broke and jammed the wheel in Ellice Street yesterday afternoon, F. Chambers, of 40 Nairn Street, was thrown to the ground, receiving a contused wound over the left eye, and concussion.
A collision at Lower Hutt yesterday morning between a motor-cycle and a car resulted, in the motor-cyclist, E. M. Henderson, of Woodvale Avenue, Lower .Hutt, fracturing his right leg.
When his motor-cycle struck a dog on Seatoun Road, Kilbirnie, early on Saturday evening, E. Rockel of 3 Stirling Street, Berhampore, was thrown heavily on to the bitumen and broke his left arm.
