YOUNG MAORI WOMAN
DECISION OF COURT
(By Telegraph—l'less Association.)
AUCKLAND, April 4.
A decision that a young Maori woman, Reremoana Minnie Kerehoma, aged 19, is entitled under her late father's will and a deed of settlement made two years prior to his death to a portion of her father's estate aggregating £95,000, was given by Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court this morning.
The girl's father died at Hastings in the influenza epidemic of 1918, leaving an estate assessed at about £140,000. A deed of settlement in respect of the amount involved in the present action directed that the funds be held in trust'for such of his children who survived him, contingent upon the children attaining the age of 21 years or marrying before that age.
His Honour said he was satisfied that Reremoana was the only surviving child, and was absolutely entitled to the trust funds. .
