OCCASION AT PETONE
The Petone Bowing Club held its first Old Members' Day at Petone on Saturday. The' weather was dull and overcast, but conditions for rowing were excellent, the sea calm, with a light northerly breeze. The various events were keenly contested, the second heat and final of the old members' race being won. by inches only. Details:— Tarraht Pairs.^-Won by Sharon and Linney. . Old. Members' Kace.—First heat: Won by Sharon, N. Barry, D. Croft, T. Holmes. Second heat: Won by Burridge, Williams, Ei Tempest, G. Nicholls. Third heat: Won by G. Eodda, W. Reesby, O. Clarke, and K. Rodgers. Final: Won by Rodda, Reesby, Clarke, and Rodgers.
Mile Trial Race.—The Wellington provincial eight (Clayton, Leopard, D. Boswell, P. Abbott, G. Cooke, Thodey, K. Boswell, and Andrews) beat the Petone eight (Sharon, Benge, Hoskins, Crane, Carter, Rigby, Gurr, and Davies), by three lengths.
