GOLDEN THIMBLE
An eighty-year-old needlewoman has won a golden thimble for her exquisite stitchery, states the London "Daily Telegraph."
She is Mrs. Dawbarn, and she lives in a county noted for its fine workNorfolk. Nearly ninety people contested for the golden thimble by sending in footstools that they had worked themselves. The competition was held in connection with the exhibition, of Contemporary British Needlework.
Mrs. Dawbarn's footstool was one of the smallest submitted, but it was perfect. It was in a traditional design, The winner was chosen by vote. Over 2000 Visitors to the exhibition voted, among them Mrs. Stanley Baldwin.
