SATURDAY'S EVENTS
Rowing conditions were good for the Petone Club's old' members' day on Saturday. The weather was dull and overcast, but the sea was calm with a light northerly breeze.
The various events were keenly contested, the second heat and final of the old members' race being won by inches only.
The Wellington provincial eightClayton, Leopard, D. Boswell, P. Abbott, G. Cooke, Thodey, K. Boswell, and Andrews—rowed over a mile course with a Petone eight consisting of Shamm, Benge, Hoskins, Crane, Carter, Wrigby, Gurr, and Davis, the representative crew winning by about three lengths.. The old members' race resulted as follows:—
First Heat.—Sharron, N. Barry, D. Croft, T. Holmes, 1; Parrant, Adamson, Shardlow, M. Nicholls, 2; C, Drummond, Jordan, R. Moore, J. Clemens, 3. Won by a length; half a length between second and third. <
Second Heat; —Burridge, Williams, E. Tempest. G. Nicholls, 1; Kirk, W. Wilson, F. Cropp, M. Love, 2; T. Slinn, J. Guthrie, T. Dent, N.-Ford, 3. Won by six inches by a determined effort in the last ten yards. ■ Thir Heat.—G. Rodda, W. Reesby, O. Clarke, K.-Rodger, 1; P. Dennehy, J. Moss, F. Bond, G.
