The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. ' ■''•'• The Michael Connelly Appointment Validation Bill was read from the House of Representatives. The Hon. R. McCallum said he would have preferred to have seen the legislation which prevented Mr. Connelly taking his seat amended. ■ Similar cases arose, in the appointment of Colonel Pitt by the Seddon Government, and in the elevation to the Chief Justiceship.-. of the late .. .Sir Robert Stout. In those cases the appointees had to wait the expiry of time, . . The Hon. J. A. Hanan said that it would be unsound public policy, to agree to Mr. McCallum's suggestion.
