CAPTIVE MISSIONARY
CHINESE REDS ACTIVE

LONDON, March 31,
The Peking correspondent of "The Times" states that after two months' silence word has been received at Peking that the Swiss missionary, Mr. Bosshardt, was seen alive on. March 20 near Wening, in the north-west of Kweichow.
Communists are still besieging Huntung and Pingyang. Over 100,000 Government troops are co-operating with the Shansi authorities, and they claim they are getting the upper hand. ■>
Mr. Bosshardt, together with Mr. A. Hayman 'of Auckland, was captured by Communists while serving on the staff of the China Inland Mission at Kinchow on October 9, 1934. Mr. Hayman, who was in a serious physical condition, was released last November.
