Special forecast for WellingtonFreshening north-westerly winds. Weather fine at first, but clouding over later and some rain probable tomorrow.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for moderate' south-westerly winds !to the north of Kawhia and Napier. Elsewhere westerlies to north-wester-Ilies will prevail and these, will be moderate in force but increasing. The weather will become unsettled in western districts and in the southern portion of the South Island and rain will develop. Elsewhere it will be fair and temperatures will be milder. The anticyclone extending across the northern part of the Tasman Sea and the North Island has intensified somewhat but a rather, intense westerly depression is.now covering the southern part of the Tasman Sea and is moving towards the southern part of New Zealand. The weather has been fine generally, with light showers m a few isolated places in the western and southern districts Yof the South Island. South-westerly breezes predominated yesterday, but by this morning a change to northerlies had set in over most of the South Island and also about Cook Strait and between East Cape and Gisborne. Auckland's weather yesterday was cold and for the most part cloudy, showers falling in the early morning. A fresh south-westerly wind prevailed. At 9 a.m. today the weather was cloudy with a light wind from the south-south-west. ■

Wellington had fine weather with a keen southerly breeze, 8.1 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. After a calm night, a light northerly wind sprang up . this morning. Although a strong south-westerly wind blew in Christchurch the weather was fine and clear. There was a slight frost last night and a trace of rain fell, early this morning. At 9 a.m. it was cloudy with a light breeze blowing . from the east-north-east.

Dunedin's weather was cold and changeable with a fresh wind from the south-west. This morning, however, a light northerly was prevailing and the weather was fair.
